The film is a look at Europe at night, taking in seemingly simultaneously, the different goings on from the usual nighttime pursuits - including a very German beer festival - to an address by the Pope at the Vatican. It's a sort of comforting (in places) reminder of how systems and our welfare are looked after while we're sleep. Serenely and respectfully shot too, a sense of reassuring calm permeates many scenes however this often contrasts with the subject matter: a fighter jet assembly, crematorium and trigger happy police trainees. Best watched at night.
