‘Folk Fantasy’ collection on sale now!

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Our latest range of illustrated t-shirts is now available online! Created around the theme ‘Folk Fantasy’ we’ve welcomed some amazing new designers in to the Collect London fold and we’ve got some pretty fantastical creatures, characters, tribal and animal prints to choose from.

We’ve also got some great new women’s styles on offer with looser, more lightweight cuts. There are two new women’s vest styles – an ultra lightweight racer back perfect for hanging out in on hot summers days and a loose fitting Scoop Neck Vest that’s ideal for teaming up with some leggings. We’ve also got a Scoop Neck T-Shirt with sewn back rolled sleeves that pair up with shorts or skinnies a treat! There’s a great Cape T-Shirt too ideal for cruising the festivals in (try Kazantip in the Ukraine – it’s on for a whole month)!

Designers Sister Arrow and brothers Rich and Chris Fairhead are new to Collect London for 2010 too.

Sister Arrow has created an awesome, bold yet feminine tribal style design that is based around an owl’s face with two diamonds for eyes, fittingly called Diamond Owl. This graphic is a womenswear one only and comes in two colourways – peach and gold. This one looks sweet with the gold on black!

Rich Fairhead has created two awesome sets of designs. The first, entitled ‘A Nagy Toll’ is heavily influenced by old school sailor tattoos (think skulls, roses, rope and women!) and features two designs – ‘A Nagy Toll Women’ and ‘A Nagy Toll Tiger’. There’s an eery, slightly macabre theme to these designs with women in stockings (with severed heads nonetheless) sitting on oversized skulls either side of another stocking clad lady holding a musket! All of this framed by roses, love hearts and lightning strikes. Full marks for originality!

Rich has kept things simple too by using one colour only and he’s drawn these by hand so there’s a really honest aesthetic. You can only tattoo someone by hand after all…

Rich’s second set ‘El Famoso’ meaning the ‘The Famous One’ goes off on a slightly different tact but are definitely part of the same theme. First up ‘El Famoso Skull’ goes down the much vaunted skull route but Rich has mixed things up a bit here by adding a mass of hair and the words ‘El Famoso’ to form part of this accoutrement.

It begs the question is it male or female? Again it’s a one colour piece and comes in a variety of different colourways on both women’s and men’s t-shirts.

Last up ‘El Famoso Triangle’, is a collage of weird and wonderful objects, characters and creatures.  Rich has carried on the skull them which runs through all his pieces and all the characters – unicorn, dog (?!), bird, Pinnochio and so on – are tied together by what almost looks like veins, muscle and guts! It sounds pretty horrible but don’t worry it works and it doesn’t look like you’re wearing your insides on a t-shirt. This too comes in a few different colour ways on men’s t-shirts only.

Rich’s bro Chris has a similar style to him but his compositions are simpler and focus more on individual characters. His ‘Yeti’ is a brilliant hand drawn creation in black that sits perfectly on white and also grey marl. As a big print it looks almost like a dense pattern until you spot those eyes, nose and thin mouth peeping out – this is one of my favourites.

It’s definitely more a menswear piece – sorry girls – but to balance it out he’s created a womenswear design along the same style – this time a cartoon like black unicorn silhouetted by pink moon. This one sits on a white Women’s Scoop Neck Vest.

Chris has also turned in a crazy, tribal inspired ‘Tree Totum’ design for the girls too.

Collect London regular Louisa Todd has come up with a trademark hand drawn piece. Her design is bold, simple and striking featuring two winged Geisha’s (or possibly Angels) standing amongst an apocalyptic cityscape.

Called “Twins” this design comes in two colourways – blue or peach and yellow – and on a variety of different styles. With the Cape T-Shirt the design goes right up to the neck line leaving a rough printed finish which makes each one unique.

Elliot Hartwell features again with a new take on the animal trend with his “Jackalope” piece. This is a hand drawn design and features a yellow triangular shape behind the Jackalope (which incidentally is a jackrabbit antelope cross from North American folklore)! It comes on the Women’s Scoop Neck Vest and Cape T-Shirt only.

Finally Pearl Clarke has developed her necklace designs from our previous collection. These are more detailed though with subdued pastel colours. There are two variants – a Native American inspired creation as well as an Indian influenced design. Both look amazing on our Women’s Cape T-Shirts. Finally Pearl has created an incredible Owl design which has been printed oversized onto our Women’s Scoop Neck Vest in a muted grey.

Of course we also collaborated with Casio G-Shock on two Limited Edition Watch and T-Shirt sets with the roll of honour going to Louisa Todd and Rich Fairhead for two fantastic designs.

Thank you so much to the all designers involved and we hope you enjoy!
